A Penny for Them?

A Penny for Them?

Do not let your fire go out in the hopeless swaps of the approximate, the not-quite, the not-yet, the not-at-all.

Ayn Rand

Halloween is behind us with all its frippery and sweet-toothedness. And now we truly enter the season of bonfires, bangs and sparklers, of cold nights and hot sausage rolls. And with these comes the possibility of slowing down for winter, seeking creature comforts and general cosiness. Thoughts might turn to reflection. How has the year gone, and what could you have done better? So while the old phrase might be, “A penny for the Guy.”, this newsletter is titled ‘A Penny for Them?’ as I’d love to know your thoughts on how you’d appraise your year to date, especially where your health and fitness is concerned.

If you think things through and how your year has gone so far, I am sure there were quite a few successes in there that need to be celebrated.

Of course there will be negatives too. You are human. You live in a world surrounded by humans. We are fallible creatures. But let’s look at and focus on those success stories.

Did you start and stick with a new health and fitness regime or habit?

Did you hit a health and fitness related goal?

Were you able to make progress in any part of your health and fitness programme? (I almost used that dreaded and overused word ‘journey’ there, but managed to catch myself! Phew!)

Whatever you were up to, I’d love to hear your thoughts on what you have accomplished this year. Drop me a reply to this newsletter, or if you are reading this on catch up on my website leave me a message.

Remember… Focus on the positives! Doing so will help spur you on to bigger and better things, and help you stay on track with whatever your big goal is.

All too often we hone in on the negative. It is human nature, and an evolutionary trait that allowed us to be aware of the nasties out there so we could thrive. However, while we can be aware of the negatives, focussing on them can lead us into a downward spiral of ‘What is the point?’. This in turn can then lead to doing things later, which becomes not at all.

So the quote at the top of this page is apt for the season of bonfires, it is also very pertinent to the theme of this missive. Don’t let your flame, your passion, dwindle into nothingness through negativity. Build up that fire with positivity, celebrating your wins.

Whether you cheer yourself on by running around the gym, whooping and hollering, high-fiving unsuspecting random people, or by just nodding to yourself in the mirror, acknowledging what you have achieved is a brilliant way to keep on track.

Remember. I’d love to hear from you, so please do reply to this email, or drop me a message through the website.

And if you aren’t quite sure where to go and what to do next, I would love the opportunity to help you keep those flames alive with a conversation about your goals, and how we could work together to keep you on track to being the best you can be. Get in touch!
